Raven Landing - A dynamic residence and community center for Fairbanks seniors where diversity, security, healthy living, independence and mutual assistance are core values.

Who We Are

The Retirement Community of Fairbanks (RCF) was incorporated in 2004 to develop, build, and operate a senior community. Raven Landing Senior Community is the first senior housing community to be envisioned for Fairbanks. The initial 20-unit apartment building opened to residents in November, 2010. The second building opened in March 2012, and the third in January 2013. These apartments are the result of eight years of work by a small group of dedicated volunteers. Much has been accomplished by this grass-roots effort, and it’s exciting to see the progress. Our residents are enjoying the progress, as well!

The Raven Landing Community Center is under construction, and it is expected to be open to the public in summer 2013.

Ultimately, four apartment buildings, the Raven Landing Community Center, and an assisted living facility will be situated on these dedicated six acres.

Raven Landing Senior Community is located near downtown Fairbanks at the corner of Airport Way and Cowles street, just across from Noel Wien Library.  The offices of the Retirement Community of Fairbanks and of Raven Landing are located in the first apartment building at 949 McGown Street. This complex replaces the east portion of the former Fairview Manor apartment buildings.

The Retirement Community of Fairbanks is a nonprofit corporation developed by local residents for the purpose of providing facilities and services which permit Fairbanks seniors to spend their senior years here in Fairbanks among friends and family. Raven Landing is owned and operated by RCF.

Raven Landing provides rental apartments at market price for Fairbanks seniors 55 years or older, who desire independent living in safe, secure buildings specifically designed for seniors. One-and two-bedroom apartments are available in each building, all are handicapped accessible, and many amenities are included in the one monthly charge.

Community Center

Raven Landing Community Center will be a space for seniors to eat, learn, relax and socialize together.  This facility will be approximately 13,000 square feet, with plenty of room for many activities.  Senior residents of Raven Landing will use the Community Center, and it will also be available for others in the Fairbanks area. The dramatic dining room, and other meeting and classroom spaces in the building, will be available for rent - for meetings, performances, organization functions, family fun, and other gatherings, and individuals and groups will be welcome to eat in the dining room along with the residents.

The Alaska Housing Finance Corporation has generously provided grant and loan funding for each of the apartment buildings. Many individual and corporate donations have been received to support RCF and the vision of building this community.

The Community Center at Raven Landing, costing over $4 million, is being funded by donations from Alaska businesses and individuals, and by two State of Alaska legislative grants. When complete, the Community Center will be over 13,000 sq. ft. and will be available for meals, activities, and support services for area seniors and their friends and families. Although we have received many, many generous contributions for construction, we will continue to solicit donations for finishing the Community Center and furnishing the completed building. Your support has been, and will continue to be, greatly appreciated!
